The CASS (Complex Airfield Systems Strategy) event took place on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2023 at Cranfield University. The event aimed to bring together professionals and experts in the field of airfield systems to discuss and share insights on various topics.
Several notable presentations were delivered during the event. Beth Henschel from YVR presented on the topic of Digital Twin, providing valuable insights into its application in the airfield systems domain. Naashom Marx presented on Airfield Robotics, shedding light on the advancements and potential benefits of robotics in airfield operations.
Jonathan Sides, the FOD Chief Engineer of the US Navy, delivered a presentation on Advanced Pavement and FOD Risk Management. His presentation focused on innovative approaches to pavement management and mitigating Foreign Object Debris (FOD) risks.
Neil Pritchard, the Head of Business Change at Heathrow, shared his expertise in a presentation on Smart Stand. He discussed the concept of smart stands and their potential impact on airfield operations and efficiency.
The event was supported by ADB Safegate, ASSAIA, Searidge, and YVR. The workshop had two headline sponsors, MOOG and Team Eagle, two prominent organisations in the airfield systems industry. Looking ahead, the next working group meeting is scheduled to take place in Winnipeg during SWIFT in September. The specific dates for the February 2024 event are yet to be confirmed.
